Take Care Of Your Car By Making Use Of Car Polish And Car Wax

September 25, 2009

Everyone desires a car that is free of dust and stains, but looking after cars is a rather difficult job. Both time and exertion are needed to make your car appear as perfect as it was the day you purchased it, to increase the car’s life, or to even get a good price when you sell it.

Usage over a period of time causes the sheen of the car to be ruined due to stains, making it look unattractive, particularly if the original layer of paint is losing its colour. Car wash, car polishing and waxing are all part of a good car maintenance routine to make your vehicle look like it is brand new.

The first step is to get rid of all the dirt on the car by washing it with a good cleansing liquid and water, after which you have to put a layer of either car wax or polish on the body. There exists a great deal of confusion among car owners about when the car needs to be polished and when to apply car wax. Being the owner of the car, it is necessary for you to have an idea of the type of care required by your car.

Car wax is a mixture of carnauba and other wax variants, which give the car exterior a wet and shiny look. But in absence of abrasive ingredients, car waxes are not able to remove stubborn stains and they cannot withstand high temperatures.

However, car polish contains ingredients like Teflon, which increase its durability, giving an ever- lasting glossy appearance to your car. Moreover, polish is a lot more effective in case of scratches and stains that are stubborn.

If your car has to deal with dust and dirt on the road everyday, car polishing is generally the best solution. Car wax might give your car an external shine suitable for special events but not for daily use. You will have to identify what the requirements of your car are after taking its model and make and your lifestyle into account, and based on these aspects you can go for a renovation that revives the glossy appearance of your car.

Various Causes of Personal Injury Cases

September 25, 2009

In personal injury cases, a person or an entity is charged with injuring another person. There are many types of personal injury cases. If the court decides against an entity, it has to pay the damages to the person who is injured.

Many persons that file for such damages have a genuine reason but there are people who do this to squeeze thousands of dollars from a business or another person. They take unfair advantage of a situation or provision.

A personal injury case can originate anywhere. It may happen at workplaces, retail shops, factories or even roads. Someone may have caused the injury unknowingly. The case is put forward to be decided by the court after which compensation may be awarded to the injured person.

Transportation industry is a big source of such cases. The automobile sector is a place where many injuries take place. People often file claims for injuries caused by other drivers. The legal system in Florida may be different from other states. So the result may not be the same everywhere.

A driver can cause injury to another person due to various reasons. He may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He may also be driving negligently. The vehicles speed may too fast than what is allowed.

The driver deserves a penalty if the charges against him are proved right in the court. There are other reasons for injuries too. Slips and falls are popular causes of an injury. For example, if a cleaner forgets to put the wet sign in a wet area, an injured person may file a claim against the business.

Wet Floor signs are necessary where the floor is being washed or cleaned. Hazardous areas may exist at any place, so the people should be warned not to enter that area.

Various hazards at workplaces invite personal injury claims by people. A personal injury lawyer, that has the experience in dealing with such cases, should be hired to increase the chances of getting your claim awarded by the entity.

Driving While Intoxicated

September 24, 2009

If you are someone who occasionally goes out for a drink after work, then you might be surprised to hear that on the way home you could possibly face a DWI, or driving while intoxicated, charge. This can happen even if you don’t think you are impaired. Due to the pressure put on state governments by groups such as Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, also known as MADD, the laws regarding drinking and driving have become tougher. An additional bonus is that this also boosts revenue for the states.

The sad fact is that in fatal accidents where drunk driving was a factor the state laws don’t differentiate between the “couple after work” and the alcoholic downing a twelve pack after work. Both types of drinkers are treated the same and both, particularly on the first offense, will be subject to penalties, fines and jail time so you will need an attorney, just another expense.

After the BAC was lowered in most states to 0.08%, people who owned bars saw business drastically decline. This is because that level is for most people equal to only two beers in just an hour or less. The legal fees associated with drunk driving can be quite a lot and that is without adding the expenses associated with the mandatory SATOP course. That alone can be a couple hundred dollars and then there is also the required administrative suspending of your driver’s license. This is for a minimum of thirty days and that is only what comes before you have your day in court and are found guilty.

Penalties for alcohol are higher, even though it is sold legally, than some charges for marijuana use or possession and the cost for your defense higher. It is the same for the person who only stops for a drink or two twice a year.

Such cases may fall under the DUI charge, which is driving under the influence. Most states define a DUI as being when it is obvious to the police you have consumed alcohol, but your BAC test does not exceed the 0.08% limit. The police are allowed to charge you with a DUI if they can just smell alcohol on your breath and that basically means that just one sip of a drink can result in the hassles, expenses and license suspensions that every heavy drinker gets when they are pulled over and caught drinking and driving.

Thought and risk associated with the new stricter laws makes people withdraw from any social settings such as a simple drink with dinner or stopping for a visit at a bar for a birthday. People are staying home and having a drink rather than risk being caught.

One way of avoiding the risk of being caught is to have someone come along to any festivity, such as a birthday party or bachelor party, etc., that will not drink at all to be the driver but some don’t think it is fair for one to be pressured in it and not enjoy the festivities same as they are.

Chances are if you are reading this, you have reason to be concerned because you have either gotten a DWI or a DUI. The best advice is to be prepared to be out a lots of money, even if you haven’t been found guilty, and the mandatory suspension has nothing to do with winning the court case. Most states immediately suspend your license for a minimum of thirty days, whether you are guilty or not. A good lawyer may be able to get you a hardship license and keep you from serving a jail sentence, paying a large fine and losing your license for a year.

Auto Insurance – What Factors Affects An Auto Insurance Quote?

September 24, 2009

If you have ever purchased auto insurance, then you have had an auto insurance quote. An auto insurance quote is an estimate of what auto insurance will cost you with a certain company for a specified period of time, generally, six months or one year.

Whenever you give your information to an insurance agent, whether is be online, by the phone or in person, the agent will enter that information into a computer which is connected to the company that he represents. If the agent is an independent agent, he may represent several independent auto insurance companies. An independent agent insurance agent may seek quotes from several companies in otder to offer you the best rates.

Remember that the number given is a quote, your actual policy could cost more or less. The fact that agents are now online with the companies they represent makes the quotes much closer to the actual price you were quoted. If you have been very careful with your use of the automobile, you can save a lot of money over the life of only one vehicle.

What are some thing that affect the price that the agent will quote you?

Your age and sex are two of the primary factors that may affect your insurance rates. Men under the age of twenty-five will pay significantly more for insurance than females or persons over age twenty-five. Other factors include the number of moving violations and accidents that you have had.

If you have had continual insurance for the past one to three years, you will pay more for insurance than if you have let your insurance lapse.

While insurance can be expensive, careful driving within the limits of the law can keep your auto insurance quote low. Defensive driving will save you money in the long run.

The Secrets of Building a Garage

September 23, 2009

Do you think that shelling out a few precious bucks in this time of economic crisis reeks of a bad decision? The answer may be a resounding yes or no, depending on who you ask. It seems that the prevailing attitude nowadays of a majority of people is to save, save and save. Of course, this is only appropriate since almost all consumers are afraid of losing their purchasing power. It doesn’t help that many Wall Street firms are on the brink of financial bankruptcy, causing a threatening atmosphere of mass layoffs.

Yet, if you are the type who is financially secure because you have been saving a long time already for the proverbial rainy days, would you still act like a miser? Obviously, you will answer no. If you have a little extra to spend as a treat for yourself, why not start building a garage that will not only accommodate your car but will also improve the total look of your place. It might even give you an additional income if you know how to maximize its use.

Building a garage is possible without loosing all your clothes or your properties. Just read the succeeding tips to know how to make it happen.

First of all, you need to prepare a blueprint that fits your judicious needs. It is imperative that you can understand it clearly. If you encounter any doubts or if you want to clarify something, don’t hesitate to contact your architect so that he can explain in full detail the questions that are bothering you. The usual garage plans contain the following elements: foundation plan, the exterior elevation blueprint, floor plans, a cross section view and the highly essential outline specifications. Other add-ons are possible but not really necessary.

Next, knowing where to put the windows and doors will help create the total look of the garage. Windows must be appropriate in size and diameter to allow rays of sun inside the garage so that there would still be a source of light without turning on an electric bulb. It has also an added bonus of killing microorganisms. Another purpose of the window is to allow air to ventilate properly inside the garage. This is to avoid that familiar musty odor which affects dark and damp places. A door strategically placed in front of the garage will also provide easy access no matter what time of the year it is. Now, if you don?t want to pass through the main door all the time, have a side door installed so that you can pass through it discreetly.

A garage may have another function if you prefer to convert it into a multi-purpose area. Building a loft will provide you with more storage alternatives and will give security to your belongings since they are being lifted off the ground. A sensible ceiling height will give the illusion of a bigger space.

In addition, should you decide to convert the upper area of the garage into a bedroom for rent, you won’t have a hard time doing so because of the ample space. This little detail will provide you with an extra income monthly.

Cut down on your expenses by acquiring the raw materials in bulk. If you can go directly to a wholesaler, why bother with a retailer? Wholesaler offers a cheaper price when you buy sacks of sand, cement and gravel, plywood, nails, piles of lumber, cans of paint and many more.

With all these cool tips, you are now ready to start building your dream garage.

Water Ingression Test: Get Engine Oil Analysis for Free

September 23, 2009

This is the second from a series of 6 very useful, and free, oil tests that you can perform in your very own garage.

The crackle test is useful for determining whether water ingression from condensation problems is an issue. Typically, you’ll be most vulnerable to water in your oil if you are a short trip driver and/or if your vehicle sits for long periods without being run.

Why test for water ingression? Because water build-up leads to increasing levels of acid in your oil. Acid causes corrosion which leads to pitting. Of course, you don’t want pitting inside your engine. Even a high TBN extended drain synthetic oil like AMSOIL can eventually be overcome by water/acid build-up. So, it stands to reason that you’d want to know if you were getting water in your oil BEFORE acid build-up depletes the acid fighting additives in your oil. THIS is why I recommend performing the crackle test.

However, if using the blotter spot test prior to the crackle test shows that you have fuel in your engine oil, performing the crackle test will likely be of little use, since the fuel in your oil will skew your results. This is the reason that the blotter spot test (business card test) is most often performed BEFORE the crackle test. If you’ve got fuel in your oil, you may already need to drain your oil, and the results of the crackle test will not be clear anyway.

Performing the test is simple: place a small quantity of oil onto a hotplate of some type (just a few drops). You want to set the hotplate to a temperature greater than 212 degrees F (the boiling point of water). Since motor oil won’t typically be volatile till 350 degrees F or higher, any temperature setting between 250 and 300 would be good.

Listen for the sound of the crackle. At this temperature, you should quickly hear the crackle of the boiling water, IF you’ve got water in your motor oil. The more oil you put on the hot plate, the longer it will take to heat up, so keep the amount to a minimum.

Paying for a professionally performed oil analysis will tell you not only IF there is water in your oil, but also how much. Nevertheless, even though the crackle test is not quite as informative, it’s nice that you can perform this inexpensive test to at least tell you if there is water present.

How To Look For the Best Tire Dealers

September 22, 2009

Tire dealers are as important as tires itself. Bad tire dealers can give you the worst deals on tires or the worst quality tires; the worst tires can give you the worst driving experience. You should therefore aim to find only the best dealers. Here are some things that you should look for in dealers.

Comprehensive Website

Modern, reputable businesses are now finding out the benefits and necessity of having an online presence. Having a business website doesn’t just increase a business’ client base. It also offers greater convenience for clients themselves. The tire dealer of your choice should therefore have its own active website.

The best tire dealer is one that has a comprehensive information on various tire products. Since tires aren’t the only part of your car, it would also help if your tire dealer also sells other car parts and is also an expert at it. A good dealer website should offer good information about cars in general and driving under specific conditions.

Good tire dealer sites should also provide their customers with access to tire reviews. This can help other would-be clients to determine the best tires for their particular use.

Quality Products and Services

Reputable tire dealers shouldn’t just sell any tire from just any manufacturer. You need a tire dealer who will take great lengths to look for tire manufacturers who only offer quality tire products. This is an extra service that will ensure consumers that they get the best kind of tires no matter which brand they choose. A good dealer should also go out of the way to offer other options to consumers such as installation and installer options.

Expert People

Your tire dealer must have knowledgeable staff and personnel that can provide you with the information you need. They are after all, the heart and soul of the dealership. Knowledgeable employees need to be able to pick the right tires for clients based on relevant factors. This increases not just consumer satisfaction but safety as well. Reputable dealers ensure that they have capable employees by offering employee training opportunities.

Wide Selection

Nothing can be as frustrating as approaching a tire dealer and not finding what you want or being restricted in your choice. A tire dealer should ideally have a wide array of selections for customers to choose from. This will allow clients to choose tires according to the appropriate size, kind of vehicle, driving style and driving conditions. Dealers should have full stocks to offer clients.

Customer Service

A good customer service is important in a tire dealership, just like in any other business. Although the customer may not always be right, they do have the right to be offered and given everything that they will ever need. This includes on hand assistance, comprehensive product information and warranty details.

Finding the right tire dealers for your specific needs may take some time. In the long run though, this will definitely work to your advantage. The right dealer can help ensure your satisfaction and driving safety.
