When Camping In The Automobile Gets Old Step Up To An RV
September 28, 2009
When I was a young man I would hike and camp under the stars. I loved to go places I had never been before. But I will admit as I am a bit older now, I do enjoy R.V. camping.
RV’s are available in a variety of different sizes and shapes. The smallest is a camper shell that fits in the back of a pick-up truck. Although they may be small there is a lot of convenience in a very small area.
The next step up is a van conversion. A class B motor home is a cargo van that is used as a camping vehicle. Sometimes the roof is raised a bit to offer more head room.
The class C motor home looks like a pick-up in the front end. There is a sleeping area over the cab, the back end looks like a motor home. The class C has all the comforts of home. A bathroom, kitchen, living room and bedroom. You could live comfortable in a class C motorhome.
The next larger version is the class A. These motor homes are like a mini one bedroom apartment, the roomiest of all the RV’s. They are completely self contained from the queen sized bed to the dinette that seats four people in luxury.
Class A motor homes are equipped with a refrigerator and stove, some even have a microwave oven. There may even be an ice maker, some models are capable of producing 20 pounds a day.
There are also travel trailers that hook to a regular trailer hitch and have a pop up top. If you would like to go a little larger there is the 5 wheel trailer that is towed through a hitch in the bed of a pick-up. Either of these two choices are very extravagant and they are much cheaper than a motor home.
If you are not sure that camping is for you, start off small maybe a used camper to get the feel of the situation. But which ever way you decide to go you should learn all you can about RV’ing before hand. There are RV forums online that you can ask question of and receive a lot of valuable information.
You Can Earn Money With Couriers Jobs”
September 27, 2009
What is a courier job and what does this entail? Well this is a great job if you want low start-up costs and flexibility with your working hours. This kind of business would require you to deliver packages etc to businesses for a courier company. You would be using your own vehicle or van and would work on a freelance basis. This means you would not have to carry on working for that particular company if you did not want to and would be able to arrange working hours to suit your lifestyle.
Once you have decided this is the type of business you would like to run then you need to get a business plan together. Firstly this is imperative if you are going to have to borrow any funds to start your business. The banks will want to see your proposals etc and how you see your business growing. Secondly if you don’t write a business plan you are likely to fail. You should never start a business with airy fairy ideas. You need to plan your short term, medium and long term goals and these need to include your cashflow, costings and profits.
To be successful doing courier work you are going to need a reliable van not some “cheap” dodgy one from your mate down the road that will break down every time you look at it. Unless you have savings set aside or some other method of purchasing your van you will probably have to borrow the money. There are various options open to you and you should carry out your research before you commit to anything. Always take into consideration that your van will depreciate over time and this needs to be added to any calculations/forecasts you may have.
If you are undecided whether or not to buy a new or second hand van you need to think about the following: “Wear and Tear” – being a courier is not the same as using your own personal car for short journeys. You and your van are, hopefully, going to be doing some considerable miles annually and this means you will need replacement parts sooner. If you do purchase a new van it should include a warranty which will cover certain costs for a period of time. A second hand van might not and if you are having to borrow money to buy the van and then pay extra if problems occur this could severely eat into any profits you may be making.
Another large costing and important factor that needs to be researched thoroughly and added to your business plan is insurance and breakdown cover. If you use a vehicle in your business your insurance is going to be higher than a normal policy (where you just use your vehicle to travel between your home and place of work). It is very important that you shop around for your insurance and breakdown policy and read the small print. You don’t want to be paying your loan on your van with no van on the road and no work!
Right we have gone through some of the basics – there are many more factors that you need to take into account before launching your new business. Do your homework and write your business plan. If it is not going to be profitable don’t do it. There is no point being a busy fool! Take your time to get the best deals available and don’t sign anything until you have read all the small print.
Harley 883 – The First Step To Owning A Harley Davidson
September 27, 2009
For more than 50 years now Harley Davidson have been producing a motorcycle known as the Sportster. But it was not until 1986 that they first produced the one we now know as the Harley 883 and which for those of us who dream of owning one of these iconic motorcycles is well within their grasp as they are the least expensive of all the models that Harley Davidson now produce.
As well as the 4 types of 883 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycles available, there are also 3 types which have a 1200 engine in them and then there is the XL50. This bike came into production this year and was designed to celebrate the 50 years of Harley Davidson producing the Sportster.
The four versions of the 883 Sportster that are now offered by one of the most well recognized custom motorcycles in the world today are as follows:-
1. Sportster 883 XL – Of all these types of motorcycle that Harley Davidson produce this is the cheapest of the lot and will cost anything from $6,595 up to as much as $7,990. 2. Sportster 883 XL Low – Although this bike is actually slightly more expensive than the first model we have mentioned above you will still find it is reasonable in cost at the moment. You should expect to pay between $6,995 and $8,390 for one of these. 3. Sportster 883 XL Custom – Yet another great looking motorcycle which is part of the Harley 883 family and will set you back anywhere from $7,795 up to as much as $9,555. 4. Sportster 883R XL – The most recent model to be included into the Harley Davidson 883 family and although not the most expensive you can still expect to pay $7,795 up to $9,090 for this one.
But along with producing, various different models of the 883 over the years Harley Davidson have made minor changes to their bikes in order to improve the ride. Such improvements that they have made to the bike in order to improve the bikes ride quality have included such items as an enlarged rear axle which has increased the bikes stability. They have also renewed the frame with the engine being mounted on rubber, which decreases the amount of vibration that it produces.
The other main changes that have been made on all the Sportster models and not just the 883 ones is that have a belt drive rather than a chain drive. They come with helical cut transmission gears, which has resulted in a reduction in the amount of gear whine they produce. Then this year they changed the bikes from being carburetted models instead all of the bikes in the range now have a fuel-injected engine instead.
For those who are looking for one of these iconic motorcycles which won’t end up costing them a small fortune this may be the ideal bike for them. As with all Harley Davidson’s the 883 models provide you with the same ride quality and prestige that the more expensive models offer. So why shouldn’t they seriously consider getting themselves one of these.
For those of you who want to feel the wind rushing past your face as you smoothly glide along the roads in a position that has become famous around the world then why not seriously consider getting yourself a Harley 883.
A Short Cut To Cheaper Auto Insurance.
September 27, 2009
No matter where you live, you must obtain auto insurance on any vehicle that you own that is driven on the highway. No vehicle is permitted to drive down the highway without insurance coverage. If you get caught, plan on receiving a ticket, a fine, and even a court date.
There are a lot of insurance companies who offer auto insurance coverage. It is very easy to obtain. You will have to pay either monthly or annually for the coverage. Most of the time, the rate that you have to pay will be based on your driving record, your age, the make and model of the vehicle that you own, and whether you want full coverage or only liability.
Full coverage insurance does cover everything. It is your best option. If you are in an accident and your vehicle gets damaged to the point that it is not drivable, the insurance will purchase you a new one. It can also cover the other vehicle that was in the wreck. This is uninsured driver coverage. You will want to make sure that your policy contains uninsured driver coverage to protect yourself better in the event of an accident. By doing so, if you obtain hospital bills as a result of the accident, the insurance will help to pay for them.
If you purchase liability insurance, coverage is limited. It covers expenses incurred in an accident to the other party if the accident was your fault. It will not pay to replace your vehicle or fix your vehicle. Liability insurance is the minimum amount of insurance that is required by law. You only want to purchase liability auto insurance if your vehicle is completely paid off.
Making sure that you have auto insurance coverage is your responsibility. It is your responsibility to call the insurance company to obtain insurance on the new vehicle whenever you purchase a new vehicle or trade for one. At the same time, you will drop coverage on the old vehicle that you either traded or quit driving.
You can obtain insurance coverage through a local insurance agency or on the Internet. Many companies now offer the ability to obtain coverage and purchase insurance completely through the Internet.
It will be easy for you to locate a provider of auto insurance. Definitely call an agency or visit an auto insurance website today. Just as soon as you pay your premium, you will be covered. Do not go any longer without coverage. Protect yourself and your assets now.
Basic Car Tire Information You Should Know
September 27, 2009
In today’s modern world, the importance of a car or a personal vehicle cannot be stressed to highly enough. We all know, however, that even the most expensive car is nothing without a good set of tires. If you want to personally shop for your tires, here are some important pieces of information that you should never neglect.
Size Matters
Difference in tires does not end in their difference in brands. They also come in different sizes. Your car tires should always fit the type of vehicle you are driving. Examples of various types of tires for vehicles are passenger and light truck type tires. If you get a smaller size than is appropriate, you could endanger yourself or end up paying more for tire maintenance.
For your car tire size, look into your car’s manual or on the sidewall of your tires. The sidewall print also contains other pieces of important tire information. If you are not sure how to interpret the sidewall letters and numbers, you may want to consult a tire and car website for proper interpretation. Some sites will simply let you enter information on your car’s model and make so you can get your tire size information.
Rims Should Match
Aside from the size, you should also have the appropriate rims for your tires. The rims give your tires the right support. Getting the wrong rim for your car tire may result in too much tension on your tires. This could damage your tires sooner than they should be. If you want to customize your wheels, make sure you consult experts who know which tires fit with which rims.
Many Different Tires
There are various options for car tires. You can have tires for the winter and summer. Tires are also categorized according to type of vehicle. Passenger tires have different dimensions from those used in vans and SUVs.
Another option consideration is car tire use. Each driver may have very specific driving styles. Some may also drive more often in rough terrain than others or may need their vehicles for frequent transport of heavy load. There are specific tires depending on your intended use and the way you use your tires.
Tires Don’t Last Forever
No matter how you take care of your tire, it will eventually wear out. Part of keeping yourself safe on the road is to know exactly when your tires should be changed. You can follow manual suggestions for when tires should be changed. You should however also manually check your tires. Look for leaks, tears, wear and bumps on the rubber of your tires.
You Shouldn’t Guess
For your safety, don’t make tire guesses. You could put your life in danger. If you need any help with tire information or tire changes, you should ask a qualified tire dealer.
Don’t underestimate the importance of getting the right car tire. Save on money and effort by asking experts to help you get your tires.
Special Reasons Legal Defence
September 26, 2009
If you have been accused of a motoring offence, then you will need to quickly prepare a defence before you get charged. Many areas of the law are almost open to interpretation and so the accusing side must complete every stage of the process correctly or it is likely that you will have grounds to contest the claim.
If you believe that the particular circumstances under which you committed the driving offence should exempt you from some or all of the punishment, then you can make a Special Reasons argument. These are most commonly used to avoid bans in drink driving cases, however they are sometimes used to avoid penalty points for other offences as well or driving through a red light.
When you argue Special Reasons you will have to provide evidence under oath that given the situation you were in it would be unfair to issue penalty points. The most common reason given is that they had an emergency i.e. there was a seriously injured passenger who they were taking to the hospital and exceeded the speed limit or ran a red light.
If the court deems that there were indeed Special Reasons in your circumstances, then you will not be issued any licence points. There aren’t any particular definitions of Special Reasons, however you will have to prove that your situation was one of the following:
1. A mitigating or extenuating circumstance
2. It must not constitute a legal defence to the allegation
3. It must be directly related to the offence in question
4. It must be something that the Court ought to take into consideration when deciding what punishment to impose.
The opportunity to argue Special Reasons is contained within Section 34 of the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.
Reform Your Campaign, How To Increase The Positive Results Of Your Auto Marketing
September 26, 2009
If you have been running a pretty intensive marketing program for your vehicle dealer but still have not noticed any changes in the quantity of sales and interested customers you get into your lot it could be time to reform your marketing campaign. One of the most important reasons why car marketing campaigns fail to see any results is actually because they fail to stay properly in contact with their buyers. If you do not make a campaign that’s obvious to customers you cannot expect to see them in your doors when it comes time to get a new car.
Consider the companies that you may have chosen to use in the past, such the company that might have towed your car when it broke down or the name of an organization that corrected your roof. If the company did not stand out in your mind there is a good chance that you do not remember the company name anymore because for you it was a onetime purchase. The purpose of your selling should be to make sure that shoppers do not view your car dealership as a onetime stop either.
This is because even though customers may only purchase one automobile every 5 or so years, they are still surer to return if they can remember your service and a solid base of repeat consumers will help raise your overall sales every year. Additionally, every customer is valuable for the personal recommendation recommendations that they may give out over the 5 years it takes for them to consider getting a new auto. Since it is likely that they are going to have pals and family members who purchase an auto it’s critical that they’re ready and ready to recommend your vehicle dealership.
Therefore, you need to reform your marketing program to ensure that you continue to maintain contact with prior shoppers at the same time that you are chasing new customers. Think about how many advertisements you hear on the radio each time you change the station in your own vehicle. There are thousands of auto agencies attempting to attract business using the same business methods. If you would like to stand out you must find how to distinguish your services from the rest. Often, simply making the effort to concentrate on your customers or send them coupons in the post is all that you need.
It is surmised that every month that your consumers do not hear about your company they lose ten percent of their interest in your agent. This is something that can easily be ratified with a robust promotional campaign if you take some time to develop a once a month e-mail, mailer, or anything of a corresponding interest that is meant to help your consumers out while also keeping your business in their mind. Auto marketing can be very effective if you know how to handle it or are ready to work with a corporation that does.
Details Of A DUI
September 26, 2009
Nowadays it is common to hear the abbreviation DUI and task forces for that offense are always making the news. Nevertheless, there are still those who don’t know the basics of what DUI is or what it even stands for.
DUI simply means “driving under the influence” and by definition it means while someone is under the influence of alcohol or drugs they got behind the wheel of a motor vehicle and drove. When it comes to the states may have different requirements pertaining to DUI’S but in all states it is illegal.
A DUI charge is a criminal charge. Though alcohol is legal to drink for individuals over 21, driving while your blood/alcohol content is above the legal limits is illegal. Additionally, being under the influence of illegal drugs is obviously a crime, but driving while being impaired by even prescription medications can be a crime as well.
Today many police officers are on the lookout for people who might be driving under the influence. Often, it is their erratic driving that will originally draw the officer’s eye to their vehicle. Typically, this is because when someone is driving under the influence of a substance their focus and reaction time may be significantly diminished.
Once a law enforcement officer has pulled over a suspect that is possible driving under the influence, they will start off by asking the driver about whether or not they are under the influence of any substance. Once that is done, the officer will then ask the driver to go through and complete a field sobriety test which consists of tests that check the coordination and reactions of the person in question. Tests like walking in a straight line, standing on one leg or touching the nose with each of the hands are done. If there is still reason to be suspicious of a DUI then other tests that are more exact will be requested from the driver, such as the breathalyzer test or a blood test and these will tell exactly what the blood alcohol levels are.
It is necessary to remember that laws vary from state to state but most will allow the driver to decide which advanced test to take. There is also something called implied consent, which is found in each state. What this means is that at the time you got your license you consented to be tested if you were stopped. The point here is that driving is a privilege and you are putting many innocent people on the road and yourself in danger.
Every state had different consequences for DUI’s. Some of the most common consequences include a stay in jail, possible community service, suspension of your driver’s license, fines, and even probation. Of course, the severity of the consequences is directly tied to how severe the infraction is. If your blood levels are severely over the legal limits or if this is your second or third offense, you can expect that your consequences would be more severe than those for a lesser infraction of the law.
SUV Review: The 2009 Ford Edge
September 26, 2009
Ford has manufactured the 2009 Ford Edge as a premium crossover SUV that is based around the Ford CD3 platform, which it shares with the Mazda6 and is effectively modified from the Lincoln MKX. The Mazda CX-9 crossover, the Mercury Milan, the Lincoln MKZ and the Ford Fusion sedans all share its platform.
As a crossover vehicle, the Edge bridges the gap between those minivans that are like the since discontinued Freestar, and truck-based sport utility vehicles such as the Explorer. The Edge officially slots below the Taurus X in Ford’s crossover SUV lineup, although it is not much smaller than that model.

A 3. 5 liter V6 engine powers the 2009 Ford Edge, which kicks out an impressive 265 horsepower through a 6 speed automatic transition. All-wheel drive is available, but front wheel drive is the standard. The SUV boasts many safety features such as anti-lock brakes, a tire-pressure monitoring system and AdvanceTrac electronic stability control. The airbags are front seat-mounted side-impact, front/rear curtain and front impact as standard.
The 2006 NAIA Show in January 2006 saw the debut of the Edge series, and production began on the 2007 model in the October of 2006. Due to a brief delay in production the first order was delayed and only just managed to reach dealerships before Christmas 2006. This delay was down to an undisclosed dispute with the supplier.
The 2009 Ford Edge has a fuel economy that is rated at 15 to 16 miles per gallon in the city, and 22 to 24 miles per gallon on the highway. As mentioned above, the Edge is available in both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive and uses Ford’s front end design with its distinctive three-bar chrome grille. Although the 2007 series was introduced with the three trim levels of SE, SEL, and SEL Plus, the 2009 series has dispensed with the SEL Plus version.
Standard features on all versions of the 2009 Ford Edge include air conditioning, cruise control, driver’s seat lumbar support, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, power windows, power door locks, and power mirrors, remote keyless entry and P235/65R17 tires on alloy wheels. Safety equipment on this car includes the standard dual front airbags, front side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes, traction control, electronic stability control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system.
An Automobile GPS Is Great, But The Surveys Are Provoking
September 25, 2009
This writer once lived in the woods in Britain for over 3 years. Although I continue to listen to the radio from time to time, I tended to ignore the huge changes happening in the real world. I originally heard the alphabet soup term “GPS” while I was still living in America, but always in the field of an army or large law enforcement or rescue agency. If I heard about a automotive GPS in a radio advertisements, I never knew what they were talking about, and failed to care to find out.
Welcome (Back) To America
Moving back to America, I was in for a severe culture shock. I avoided watching TV so long as I could, but my Mom ( who took her wayward child in ) loved it, so that the TV was on all the time. I’d practically pound my head against the floor just because I couldn’t understand the commercials. My mom had to explain to me what “bling” meant. That was a touch bit humbling.
At the time, I took computer lessons and attempted to get my head together. I certainly required a car GPS to figure out what I was doing. As a lark, I joined several online survey groups. I started getting free samples, and learned what a car GPS was. I didn’t have much of a choice I was getting 2 or three automotive GPS surveys a week.
Back In The Saddle Again
I discovered that instead of being annoyed by geeky language, automobile GPS dashboard mounted devices were useful and simply comprehensible gadgets that could help improve the standard of life. Imagine if the kids of Israel had car GPS units strapped to their mules and camels.
They would not have wandered around in the desert for 40 years. They would have found the best road to The promised Land before dinner.
People of my generation and younger get so easily lost because it is too perilous to go anywhere. Whenever we plan a trip, we have to permit at least three hours to get lost and then find our way again. Think about the waste of gas.
But with an automobile GPS unit, you don’t have to waste gas or time to get to your destination. I’m wondering how much gas is saved just by using automotive GPS units.
If I go back to the woods, I suspect I’ll take an automotive GPS device with me. Maybe then I could make better choices about my life.
