If you have horses and frequently travel with them around the country then you will be aware of how your horse reacts to being put into a horsebox. When it comes to horseboxes bigger is always better for both you and your horse. A larger horsebox can accommodate more horses.
For years now people have been using horseboxes as a way to transfer their horses around, traditional horseboxes are very basic and can’t accommodate any more that four horses at one time.
However now there is a new toy on the scene. The horse wagon; haorse wagons are massive to say the least. Imagine a bus that has been converted to take up to eight horses plus living quarters for up to four adults including beds, skins and cookers.
So just why are people starting to buy these super horse wagons? Think of it this way, if you were going to be competing and had to sleep in the back of a transit van would you feel rested and ready for the next day’s events? No I didn’t think so and the same goes for your horses, by forcing them to spend the night in a cramped horsebox you aren’t properly resting them for the event. A horse wagon acts as a home away from home for your horses.
I recently had the pleasure of spending a weekend in one of these huge horse wagons and I must say it was rather splendid. The beds were as you would expect to find in a hotel and the kitchen was of a better standard than I have in my home. It had a fullsized shower and when it was my turn to compete I was perfectly rested as were my horses.
As you might expect such luxuries come at a price; the typical wagons start at around 60,000 and the prices keep on climbing the higher the specification. You have to see a horse wagon as an investment but I wouldn’t rush out to buy one if I was just starting in the wonderful world of equestrian.

Rancho Shock Reviews: RS5000, RS9000XL, RSX

Being in the aftermarket automotive parts business with a focus on Rancho shocks and suspension, customers often ask, “What’s the difference between the Rancho RS9000XL, RS5000, and RSX shocks?” All three are reputable products, yet each is built for different uses and driving experiences. The best feature of the RSX is that each shock is specifically engineered for the vehicle upon which it will be installed. This provides optimal performance in conjunction with the vehicle’s weight. Unfortunately, there is a downside of the RSX shock — it’s not available for heavy-duty (HD) and super-duty (SD) trucks and full-size SUVs. Does this mean that the RSX can’t handle off-road use? Ride quality can be set soft for highway driving, medium for city/urban driving, and firm for off-road driving and even towing.
RS9000XL have nine possible settings so a quality ride can be had by even the pickiest drivers (or their passengers). In addition to manual tuning, there is an auxiliary wireless myRIDE remote control unit that allows the shocks to be adjusted at the touch of a button while the vehicle is parked or moving. RS9000XL shocks were designed with modern-day, full-size trucks in mind. In addition to the typical 2-3/8″ and 2-1/8″ body diameters found on most shocks, the RS9000XL is also available with a 2-3/4″ body for select full-size applications.
When choosing the Rancho shocks that are right for you, a couple things you should consider are your budget and what kind of driving they’ll be used for. RS5000 shocks cost the least, RSX cost approximately 40-50% more, and RS9000XL cost approximately 40-50% more than that. If you’re looking to save money or merely replace your old, worn out shocks, the RS5000’s will work adequately. If you’re still on a budget, but want a ride superior to what an RS5000 offers, then the RSX is recommended. If budget is not an issue, or if you want the best shock available without getting into the “extreme” off-road shocks, then the RS9000XL is recommended.
