A Beginners Guide To Car Spray Paint Painting

June 28, 2009

There are two passageways or channels within the gun. One is for airflow the other for material flow. The fluid needle takes the required paint from the reservoir. As you use the trigger to control the tapered needle, it will pull it from the tip allowing more material through. Simultaneously the trigger regulates the air to allow siphoning of the material from the cup, and atomizes the paint. It is through the fast moving area that a low-pressure area materializes and uses the ambient air pressure as its catalyst to push the material from the cup. Now you can see what it is so important to keep the vent tubes clear and clean.

Some interesting and very important questions are such as these?

Qns 1: There are holes on both side of the air cap – what are they for? These are like an air anvil and are called air horns. This is what allows you paint to flatten out so it makes a pattern. When the air meets the material it is in the impingement zone. As the air comes out of the horn the air hits directly in front of the air cap.

Qns 2: It is now becoming a regulation in many places to clean you gun in an enclosed gun washer. What?s the best way to use these?

If you have never used one before make sure you read and follow all instructions. They are designed to work in cycles of 60 seconds, so don?t leave you gun in there beyond that time period. The cleaning action is like putting your gun fully immersed into lacquer thinner. Can you imagine the shape of your gun if you leave it in too long or too often?

Condensation will form in your gun if you do not change the solvent on a regular basis. This means acids start to form and this is certainly not good for your gun. If you are cleaning, a gravity gun is sure to plug up the air inlet before putting it into the washer. You don?t want the solvent getting in here. Once done remove the gun and dry immediately with a cloth. If the packing starts to leak, you can change it.

Qns 3: My Spray gun produces a bad pattern:

Most likely, a rebuild kit won?t correct the problem. Balance the air with the material.

Some other things to remember is you have to use more that one gun for refinish materials if you are in a compliant area. Temperature ranges are important for HVLP guns if it?s the larger ones; it?s not for the smaller ones. Lubricate you gun with a 4 oz. Mineral oil. Remember to match the fluid nozzles with the type of material you using. Using multiple guns means you don?t have to keep changing tips. Keep your gun in top-notch shape by not dropping it or immersing it in thinned. Avoid harsh chemicals.

Ways To Avoid Car Accidents

June 28, 2009

Car accidents these days seem to be a growing epidemic among young adults and drives all over the entire country. Because of the amount of technology that we have at our fingertips, many drivers are finding themselves getting into more accidents then usual.

If you want to be a safe driver and you want to learn how to avoid an accident, then take a look at all of these helpful tips to help you along the way!

Technology is not new to us, and we like being able to use it whenever you want to. If you do a lot of driving and you sit in traffic a lot, avoid a car accident by getting off of that cell phone and concentrating. Those who do concentrate have a lower risk of getting in an accident, and can get home safely.

If you have teens that are getting ready to drive, make sure that you take a lot of time and set it aside to teach them how to drive. There are school classes that can be taken, but a parent should be the one teach their child the ways of the road.

More teens die each and every year from car accidents, and it seems that they may have needed a little more guidance.

You cannot control what other drivers are going to do, and there is only so much that can be done to avoid car accidents. Taking these tips along with you on the road will help immensely, and will keep you safe as well.

The fact of the matter here is, in order for you to get safely home, you need to anticipate other drivers and what they might do. In reality, you only have control of your own car; you have no control over what everyone else is going to do.

The roads would be a whole lot safer if people just kept their eyes on the road, instead of their cell phone or radio.

Making a Used Cars For Sale Experience Good

June 27, 2009

I remember when my best friend and I went to buy her first car. Shed been saving up for a car for months and had finally saved up enough money for a good down payment on a used car for sale and was really excited to get her first car. We went to a few of the local dealerships and got the same experience at every single one. Every time we got there the dealer would come out, look at us, and would immediately look for someone who was supposed to be with us. Granted we were only 20 years old, but how did these dealers now know that we were millionaires or something?

The entire experience was really horrible, and the two of us left every dealership even more dejected than we were when we left the last one! Im not sure why they thought that we were not worth their time, but it was something that really upset us both.

We finally found a dealer who was willing to work with us, and then, when we did, he started pushing us towards the cars that he wanted her to buy, not the ones that she wanted to buy. He made sure that we knew that he thought she could only afford the cheaper cars, and in the end she wound up with a car that she really didnt care for, but thought that it was all that she could afford.

Why does it have to be this way? Why cant you tell people what type of used cars for sale youre looking for and have them come to you? Thankfully now you can. Thanks to the internet you can now look at car buying in an entirely different way.

If youre looking, for instance, for a small 4 door car that is 4 cylinder and that is in a certain price range, you can now find it! Thanks to the internet the way that we used to think you had to buy cars is officially gone, and now you can buy the car that you want, and not the car that the dealer things that you should be in.

And this is a great tool for sellers as well. Sellers can now put their used cars online for sale and can get a much wider and more rapid response. Those who are trying to sell their cars can look online and can see if there is anyone who wants a car like theirs, making it easier to reach someone who actually wants to buy your car and making is so that you dont have to settle for whatever the car dealer is going to give you for the car.

This is going to be a great tool for college students as well, which we were at the time, because this way no one has to be made to feel as dejected as we were on the trips that we took to the used car dealerships.

Halogen Bulbs versus Xenon Bulbs – A Headlight Bulbs Comparison

June 27, 2009

Technology presents us with a number of different options, even when it comes to vehicles and their headlight bulbs. Most vehicles are fitted with halogen light bulbs, which may seem quite bright on a dark evening. However, there is something better out there, and your vehicle with halogen bulbs does not need to be modified to fit these other bulbs. Xenon light bulbs emit about 90 percent more light than a halogen bulb. What is more is that they are road legal.

Headlight Bulbs – A Very Brief History!

Before going into how xenon lights will enhance your visibility, the history of headlight bulbs should be discussed. Headlights began as incandescent lights, which were very simple. Then in the 1960s manufacturers of car lights created the halogen bulb, which they named the H1.

The creation of the bulb requires an airtight glass which is filled with a halogen mixture. Halogen burned brighter than their predecessors. To improve the lights further, the car manufacturers modified the filament. The filament is the metal wire coil in the centre of the light bulb. The filament allowed a higher beam intensity, which made more light. This light could extend further from the car than incandescent light bulbs.

Now, car bulb manufacturers have advanced this technology even further by filling the bulb section with xenon gas and then pressurising it. Xenon gas burns more intensely than ordinary halogen, whilst also producing a much crisper and whiter light, which makes halogen headlight bulbs seem a dull yellow by comparison.

A redesign of the metal filament coil, combined with precision, different construction, and materials have made the xenon bulbs better. This is due to the light projected from the headlight onto the road in front of the driver. The beam is up to 35 metres further than halogen.

Halogen to Be Replaced by Xenon

Xenon light bulbs look a lot like the halogen bulbs, due to the glass and construction of the xenon. Therefore, anyone who wants to upgrade their headlights can just replace the halogen with a xenon bulb without modification. It is an instant change from yellow light to bright white.

Xenon light bulbs will fit in the bulb holders and use the same connectors as halogen. They do not require a higher voltage or wattage modification. You can replace the halogen safely because you do not have to cut wires or change the car. The best part is that xenon is legal in the UK and Europe.

Fitting xenon bulbs will improve both how far and how much of the road ahead you can see, making night driving safer and less stressful as you can see potential hazards earlier and react to them quicker. So as you can see, when it comes to comparing halogen headlight bulbs with modern xenon bulbs there really is no comparison.

The Best Way To Locate Used Cars In Orlando

June 27, 2009

Finding pre-owned cars in Orlando has is getting a lot easier thanks to the internet. Of course, not everything about finding cars online is simple. If you know the trick, though, you can find Central Florida pre-owned vehicles with no problem. You just have to know where to look.

There are many ways you can search for used cars online. You can do a simple search on one of the search engines, but that can bring up pages and pages of results, many of which are not going to help you one bit. Instead of finding what you want you are more likely to spend your time clicking through to pages that offer you nothing that you need.

Another option is to find sites that advertise used cars. While this is far more likely to help you out than a simple search, you still will waste a lot of time just trying to find cars in your area. After all, you probably do not want to travel to Texas just to pick up a car. You want Orlando used cars that are right in your area.

This brings us to the best solution – a website that only advertises pre-owned cars in the Orlando and Central Florida area. A targeted site like this is the single best place to search. You will only find cars in your area, so no more wasting time looking all over the country (or the World Wide Web) to find a local car.

You might question why you would want to go online to look for a car in the first place. That is actually quite simple. Going online to search for Orlando pre-owned cars allows you to search for a car at any time of day that is convenient for you. You will also have a chance to easily compare cars. Plus, you can see a wide range of cars from all over the Orlando area, too.

If you were to try to see the volume of cars you see online in person, you could spend days or even weeks trying to see them all. In that time many would be sold right out from underneath you or you might waste time running all over only to find nobody has what you want.

By using an internet site thats designed for local pre-owned cars, you will save time. You will also realize it is less stressful to shop this way. Instead of wasting time you can find just the cars that you are really interested in. Then you can go and look at them in person. This really is just, generally, a better option for finding your next car.

Part of the hassle of finding Orlando used cars is the searching. It can be so difficult to find good used cars or even just a used car that suit your needs. By using an online local source to search for cars you will be able to find the right used car for you in no time. It will take all the hassle out of car shopping and you may even end up enjoying the experience.

Being one of the most popular and most sought after insurances in the world, car insurance is definitely one of the most talked about insurance policies as well. Be it the Us, Europe or Asia, it is mandatory by law, for people driving cars on public roads to own car insurance.

Have you ever wondered where did it all begin? In this write up, we try and explore some of the reasons and incidents which led to the foundation of car insurance policies and laws relating to them. The earliest hints of vehicular insurance com from ancient China, when the west was opening up to this far land.

Most of the cargo that was shipped in these cargo ships belonged to wealthy traders of England and it is the clan of these traders only who rolled out insurance policies to safeguard their ships against potential maritime dangers.

Policy makers in the US were strictly bent towards the idea that if you own a vehicle and drive it on public roads, you ought to have car insurance in order to prevent damage to any third parties. It was this thought process that made the ownership of car insurance mandatory in the US and in the rest of the world as well.

Policy makers from all over the world (especially those from the US) were bent on the fact that owning a vehicle and driving it on public property (roads are, by law, property of the public) is not a right, but a luxury and therefore, it became all the more important for car owners to get their vehicles insured. Car insurance was also deemed elementary to safeguard the interests of third parties who might get incur losses during an accident on the road.

While the first law, making car insurance mandatory in 1927 in Massachusetts, real ground work had already been started in this field in the early 19th century. A number of car insurance policies were written and the first policy giving a full liability cover was written in 1895 in England. Soon, three years later, America saw its first such policy, penned down by Dr. Truman in 1898. Policies offering a full liability cover are the most popular and preferred of all car insurance policies because of the fact that they not only insure the vehicle, they also reimburse the vehicle owner for any damage that he might have caused to others.

Later, the concept of car insurance got a whole new twist. Policy makers from all over the world got together and decided that owning a vehicle and driving it on public roads (roads, in most parts of the world are considered to be the property of the public) was a privilege.

During the time when various car insurance policies were being drafted, policy makers from all over the world felt that driving a car was not a luxury, since the car owner not only put himself at risk when driving on roads (which are public properties by law), but also third parties who are using the roads for their own reasons. Thus, the policy makers from all over the world started pushing forward laws to make car insurance mandatory for car owners.

Importance of Certifications While Selecting An Auto Technician

June 26, 2009

This is a question plenty of people ask, probably in the belief that it makes monetary sense to get their vehicles checked and repaired by an uncertified technician because he costs less. Therefore, why pay more for a qualified auto repair expert? Well, you have only to look at the test lineup and mission statements of ASE (The Institute for Automotive Service Excellence) and I-CAR (Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair) to find an answer. These are the two pre-eminent organizations in the area of issuing certificates to auto service technicians, thanks to the tests and programs they conduct. This article intends to supply a brief background on each, list their mission statements, and enumerate the test line-up for each.

ASE (The Institute for Automotive Service Excellence)

Even 30-odd years ago, there was no way to tell whether an auto technician was competent. That is, there was no professional standard that auto technicians could adhere to. To fill in this vacuum, the autonomous, non-profit body known as National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) was set up in 1972. As of today, nearly 420,000 professionals can boast that they possess current ASE certifications. They work in all areas of the automotive service industry such as vehicle dealerships, single garages, fleets, and service stations.

In order to obtain ASE certification, applicants must sit for one or more of the ASEs 40-plus tests, which are sorted into different areas of expertise for automobile, medium/heavy truck, truck equipment, school bus, and collision repair technicians as well as engine machinists, alternate fuels technicians, parts specialists, and collision damage estimators. A successful candidate needs to pass at least one exam and make available proof of at least two years of relevant work experience, whereupon he becomes ASE certified. This is not a one-time certificate, though. In order to remain certified, technicians with ASE certification must take a retest every five years. The ACT, which operates various academic and occupational testing programs, is in charge of the tests, and they are organized twice a year in over 800 locations nationwide. The exams impose strict quality control by testing candidates mastery over job-related skills and are not easy to pass. In fact, something like one in three candidates fails.

Needless to say, a consumer stands to gain much from ASE certification. For one, it can become a measure of the knowledge and skills of a technician; second, it tells you a lot about a repair facilitys quality if it displays the ASE Blue Seal of Excellence logo on its signs and advertisements.

ASEs mission: To improve the quality of automobile repair and service through the testing and certification of repair and service professionals in the automotive industry.

You can gain a better idea of the ASE certification and testing by studying the tests as outlined on www.ase.com:

Set up in 1979, I-CAR (Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair) is, once again, an international, non-profit training organization that seeks to better the quality, safety, and success rate of auto collision repair.

To that end, I-CAR promotes the concept of Outward Vision, which is a concept that aims to define the Ideal State of the collision industry as far as technical training is concerned. In this regard, I-CARs definition of the industrys Ideal State is:

That every person in the Collision Industry has the necessary technical knowledge and skills relevant to their position to ensure a complete and safe repair. I-CAR continues to develop and deliver technical training programs to professionals in all areas of the Collision Industry. Furthermore, I-CAR provides a communication forum for anyone interested in proper collision repair. Finally, that I-CARs primary funding is derived from student tuition and services, insuring that I-CAR can remain unbiased in developing courses and services on an industry-wide basis.

The I-CAR Mission Statement:

If, after all this, you still think it worthwhile to have an unskilled and unqualified amateur have a look at your car, just to save a few dollars in the short run, the call is yours. However, it is obvious that the importance of a certified and professional technician is immense when it comes to protecting and maintaining your precious vehicle. And whats more, such a technician will always keep himself updated on the latest happenings in the automotive industry, which means even the newest makes and models are safe in his hands. So do not leave your car vulnerable to undue risks. Consult a professionally certified technician today.
