How can We Prevent Road Accidents from Happening

February 26, 2009

There is no doubt about it; there are far too many accidents on the road today. Even if you are the most careful and contentious driver on the road there is still a chance that someone will slam into your car causing you, at the very least, some property damage and maybe something far worse.

There is nothing you can do that will guarantee you a constantly safe and totally accident free driving experience, but there are several things that travelers can do to help minimize the amount of accidents that occur on the road every day.

Obey the Traffic Laws The state makes prospective drivers pass a test before they get behind the wheel for a reason, automobiles can be very dangerous if they aren’t operated properly and according to the laws of the road. Speed limits, traffic signs and all other traffic signals should be closely adhered to every single time someone gets behind the wheel, traffic laws are put in place to protect all of the travelers who are sharing space on the road. Following traffic signals isn’t an option, those drivers that treat it as such are usually the ones you see pulled over to the side of the road being handed a violation by officers or off the side of the road due to being involved in an accident after that required roadside assistance.

Pay Attention to the Road and Your Surroundings at all times There can be plenty of things going on in traffic all around you, so it’s crucial that you pay attention to everything going on around you. Driving should be your only focus while behind the wheel. Too many travelers use there commute to eat their breakfasts, drink their coffees, apply their make up and change their outfits and these are often the drivers that are involved in accidents. If you don’t have time to eat, change or apply your make up before you get in the car, it’s probably a good idea to start getting up earlier. Those five extra minutes of sleep won’t help you replace your totaled automobile or help with your rehabilitation following an accident.

Put Down the Cell Phone Our cell phones now are a huge survival tool, they let us make calls, receive and send text messages and e-mails, surf the internet and get directions, watch videos, take pictures and listen to music, among other things, but one place they don’t belong is in your hand while you’re behind the wheel. You simply can’t concentrate on the road and the things going on around you while you’re typing a text message or reading an e-mail. There are laws against using your cell phone while driving in many states now, and those laws are just as important to follow as all of the other laws on the road, you can read your e-mails and send your texts when you get to your destination, but doing so while your driving may not let you get to your destination at all.

Don’t Drive under the Influence Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is a major cause of accidents and automobile related deaths. An easy way to prevent this is to not drive while you are under the influence, if you have to drink, and then find another way to get home. Have a sober friend drive you, take a cab or spend the night where you are, but never get behind the wheel after you’ve been drinking.

Many of the accidents that occur are preventable, if people would just pay attention and abide by the laws of the road. By staying aware of your surroundings you can help to minimize the chances that you’ll be involved in an accident, but if you choose to drink and drive or play with your cell phone while you’re driving then you are setting yourself up to become a statistic.

What was the quality of service they switched from and what value do they get from their current insurers? Your Your task becomes easy if they rave about their agent and/or insurer. Then you should simply write them down as possible options for you. Nevertheless, make sure you do not call just one friend and then choose their agent (Not minding how good they tell you such agents are). The fact is that you’ll do better shopping if you talk with and compare up to three agents. Request quotes from each. Have some talks with each of them and you’ll find out who has the best for you. Although this method is quite effective, it will require a lot of time to complete.

Used Car Financing Tips

February 25, 2009

Car dealerships have to sell cars so they must provide a source of financing to their customers. Loans will usually be provided on the spot to car purchasers and it is up to the customer to decide which of the various offers they wish to accept.

As the cars are being offered from the showroom or the shop, the rates and the rules of the loan usually remain the same. The rate is usually very low, so as to attract and lure more and more customers towards their loan program. This is because there are companies waiting to have a go at the customers and if the loan rates are higher then obviously the customers would go for the another loan company with lower rates.

But this is not the case with the car loans that are given out for used cars. The rates that are charged by the loan giving companies usually differ from each other as it is the discretion of the loan companies.

Therefore, it is advised that before taking or choosing a loan the customer should properly research the rates that are prevailing in the market. He or she should not jump at once to grab a loan merely because the rate offered is low. There are bound to be companies which offer better rates. The customer should go through all the programs and then apply for a used car loan that suits him the best. And if no loan suits his interest then he can always go back to the first loan that was offered to him at a low rate of interest.

A customer can register online or can go and directly collect the forms. The person should however compare the loan rate that is being offered to him. The customer can search online for the prevailing market loan rates; or rather collect the rates directly from a local lender. This way he will have an idea of the lowest rate offered. Before taking up a loan however, the customer should also take into consideration, the number of months for repayment.

It is possible to find online finance companies who will provide loans for used cars at low rates of interest. Possibly even lower than the rates offered by local banks. They may not have as strict guidelines for used car loans as the banks do.

Thus we see that a customer should do a complete job of research regarding the rates offered, to pick up the best offer.

The Car Trolls Made: Saab 9-3

February 24, 2009

A Saab seldom, if ever sparks arbitrary daydreams of speeding down the highway, cranking out Deep Purple’s “Highway Star” at full blast. In fact, it’s hard to think of any Swedish car inciting that kind of Mustang-esque fervor. But if Saab has anything going for it it’s the 9-3 series and the fact they’re all built in a city called Trollhttan. The 9-3 I’m sure you understand the 9-3, but the city’s name? So what? Well, it’s Swedish for “Trolls’ Hoods.” That’s right: Saabs, built by trolls.

The first 9-3 rolled (or should I say trolled) off the assembly line way back in 1998. Ah, those foggy Nineties, who can remember that far back? The distant chords of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” haunt me as I pull my flannel shirt tight around my waist. Although only 326,370 first-generation 9-3s were built, it proved a popular car, especially in the United States. Go figure. Those trolls can build.

With the end of the 20th Century, the 9-3 was reborn as the trolls were inspired to do away with the original 9-3’s chassis. They streamlined the car and packed it with a turbo-charged 2.0 liter straight 4 engine. In 2004, the head honchos requested the car be remodeled again! And so, it was and re-branded as the Saab Aero. Although it was still a front-wheel vehicle, it featured passive rear-wheel steering, improving its safety rating.

By the middle of the decade (that’s 2005 for those of you taking notes), the trolls were hard at work riveting Saab 9-3 Aeros with flashy 16-inch wheels, new dashboards, and a new and improved climate control system. They were also fitted with OnStar navigational systems and brand-spanking-new satellite radios. The new power under the hood prompted an upgrade of the old shifter. So, the Saab 9-3 graduated from a five speed to a six speed.

With the trolls at the helm, the Swedish hits keep coming like ABBA in the Seventies. The limited edition Turbo X model sped onto the scene in 2007. It met with raves, playing on a stripped-down, Spartan package available only in black. Very Knight Rider. It was the first production car equipped with an extra wide all-wheel drive system developed by Haldex Traction and it was capable of producing 280 horsepower. A powerful luxury car built, it seems, by speed-freak trolls.

Buy A Hybrid Car: Why You Need To

February 24, 2009

For the past years, people going out to buy a hybrid car are increasing. Considering the many reasons for the decision, this buying trend is not surprising. Still, there are many who believe that the technology is actually too expensive to invest in and that hybrid cars are just not powerful or spacious enough for their needs. So when is it really the right time to invest in a hybrid car?

The Price Of Gas

Gas fuels almost everything that moves. We all know we need it. But we also know that it is fast becoming a depleted resource. Personal vehicles these days can consume up to 140 billion gallons of gas and diesel fuel in a year and these numbers don’t seem like they are falling at all.

About the only number that is going up is the price of gas and this should be the cause of concern for anybody who owns a gas-powered vehicle. This is one of the signs that should trigger the notion that more people should buy into the idea of hybrid cars.

Emissions And The Environment

So your current car is not much of a smoke belcher. This is not enough of an argument to go against the fact that there are dangerous emissions that are released as your car burns the fuel it needs to move. To buy a hybrid car means that you will be making a world of difference especially with the way your driving is affecting the air around you.

Hybrid car technology is designed for zero carbon monoxide emission. This means that you can start driving around without worrying at all what your car is contributing to the pollution situation of the world. This is due in part by hybrid cars running on less gas and more electricity. This is another reason why you should really think about investing in a hybrid vehicle.

Purchase Incentives

Although it may depend on what State you live in, purchasing a hybrid car generally means great savings for you in the future. A number of incentives offered by the government are another reason why more people should purchase hybrids.

A new incentive for hybrid car users came in 2006 in the form of full-dollar tax credit. This made it even more valuable for car buyers to buy hybrids when compared to the reductions of taxable income when purchasing regular cars. More specifically, buyers who purchased, for example, a Toyota or Lexus hybrid before October 1 2006 qualified for a 100 percent tax credit. Those who bought Toyota hybrids after that date received a tax credit equal to 50 percent of the amount that they spent.

Another reason why it is generally recommended to buy a hybrid car these days is because it is multi-beneficial. You not only get to contribute to positive changes in the worlds environment, but you also get the privilege of driving cars straight of the future with technologies that make it more convenient for everyday transport. Still not convinced? Buy a hybrid car and you’ll see what it means to own one.
