Do All Car Rental Companies Offer One-Way Rentals?
January 24, 2009
Car rental companies are all about satisfying their customers, so they offer a wide array of services. Some of the services are needed and others are not. There is also the fact that there are a lot of add-ons that people may or may not need. But what about those things that you may need, but you find out they may not have? What special things do you need out of a car rental company?
Of those things that are needed by some individuals are one-way rentals. One-way rentals allow an individual to rent the car in one city, drive it to another, and then leave it at another location owned by the rental company. In other words, they do not have to drive the car back to its original location. This is great for those individuals who are moving to another destination. This is also great for those wishing to drive to their destination, but then fly, ride the train, or ride a bus back.
A scenario
Here is a perfect scenario as to why someone may need a one-way rental: Lets say that someone drives 12 hours away from home. They drove instead of flew because they wanted to take the time out to be on the road alone and enjoy the sights. However, they get a phone call that tells them there is an emergency and they need to come home as soon as possible. The only way they are going to be able to achieve that is if they buy a plane ticket in order to get home quickly. However, they have an issue on their hands and that issue is that they have the rental car and they are not sure what to do. They surely cant drive back home and make it back in a reasonable amount of time.
This is where a one-way rental comes in. They go to another location owned by their rental car company such as car rental Calgary and find out that they can just drop the car there so that they can catch a flight home.
Do they all offer one-way rentals?
As for whether or not all rental car companies offer one-way rentals, the truth is that they dont. The reason is because not all car rental companies are nationwide companies. There are smaller companies that you may find in your local area that may be a one location type of company or they own very few throughout the country. The national chains, on the other hand, they do offer one-way rentals. You probably wont find a company with locations all over the country that doesnt offer one-way rentals to their customers.
There are just so many reasons why someone may need a one-way rental that the company would be hurting financially if they didnt offer that option. Customers would simply go to another company that did offer the service. Thats how a lot of companies make a lot of money. They offer services such as this.
Dont fret So if you need a one-way car rental or truck rental, dont fret because this is definitely an option that you can take. It is nothing to be afraid of asking about. Theyre not going to look at you strange if you say you want a one way ticket to your destination. They are going to tell you where their location is in the town you are going so that you know where to drop of the car. If you need any other information regarding the drop off, you can simply ask and they will answer your questions. Just dont forget to shop around before committing to one company.

Safety First: Tips for Junk Yards
January 24, 2009
Junk yards can be dangerous places to be. There are all manner of sharp, twisted things, metal, glass and precariously balanced items. That`s why it`s a good idea to take precautions when entering a junk yard and make sure that you are safe. Here are a few things to keep in mind when heading into a dangerous section.
Safety Gear You don`t need to suit up for biohazards in a junk yard, but some basic safety gear will help protect you against potential accidents and injuries.
Steel-toed boots are a very important part of your safety gear. The thick soles will protect you from punctures in case you step on something long and pointy, such as a nail or screw and the steel toes offer protection against heavy objects falling on the feet, as well as stubbing them on things. The soles of these work boots are also protection against electrical hazards, should you step on a live wire by accident.
If there is activity, such as welding and moving of parts going on, then head gear in the form of a hard hat and safety goggles are also recommended and may even be required to enter the junk yard. Protective UV eyewear is required if you will be welding or watching someone else welding.
For handling of anything in the junk yard, it`s important to wear heavy work gloves that will protect the hands and prevent possible punctures or cuts. Even when you think lifting an object is safe, there could be glass or shards of metal below it.
Keeping Safe How you act and what you do in the junkyard will also have a bearing on how safe you are. Apart from wearing protective gear, there are a few things you can do to prevent injury. It`s a good idea to read any signs or safety information provided before you enter the yard. These will be fairly prominent and will warn you of any particular dangers such as electrical hazards, moving equipment or other potential issues.
Taking care where you walk is definitely a good idea. Junk yards have pre-cleared paths that should be safe to walk on, but if you start wandering off between piles of junk, you could step on something or injure yourself.
Be aware of any work being done. If there are cars or other objects being moved around and heavy machinery working, you could be in danger if you get too close. Knowing where the work is going on will help you avoid potential problems. Remember that someone inside a machine might not see you walking below them.
In general, it`s a bad idea to simply wander around a junk yard. Find out first where the items you are looking for are and then go directly there. If the property is fairly large, you may need directions to reach a specific spot. Ask an employee for directions or to guide you to the area you need to reach.
Make sure that any tools you are using are in good repair. It can be quite hazardous to work with broken or dull tools which could slip and injure you, so take only well cared for items. Also, be sure that you know how to work with any electrical tools, such as cutters.
Junk yards can be fascinating places to visit and may be just the spot to find a part you`ve been looking for, but the truth is that they can also be very dangerous. As long as you take precautions and wear protective gear, you should be just fine.

The Basics on Cheap Trucking Insurance Quotes
January 24, 2009
If you own a truck and an auto, you have probably noticed that your truck insurance is much more expensive than your auto insurance. This is because trucks cost more. Even though it will always be more expensive than auto insurance, you can find more affordable rates if you know how to look.
The most obvious factor used while adjusting your premium is your driving record. If your record is clean, you will be able to qualify for some of the lowest prices around. However, if you have had tickets or accidents in the last five years, you can expect your prices to rise.
Most Americans find that they pay a lot for their insurance if you combine auto, homeowners or renters, and trucking. If you are looking for a way to cut your spending, you can often consolidate your policies. Putting all of your policies with the same company qualifies you for substantial discounts.
If you are interested in saving even more money, you should talk to your agent about changing your deductibles. This does mean that if you do get in an accident, you will have to pay more. If you do change them you could save hundreds of dollars a year.
Another thing you want to be careful about is the amount of claims you file and the gravity of each one. Each time you report an accident or a repair to your insurance company you will see an increase in your rates. If the price of the repair is close to that of your deductible or even a little higher, don’t file it because you will be charged much more in the long run.
Not all insurance companies are created equal. Some will be able to get you great rates while others will charge you a lot. It is good to shop around to make sure you are getting a good deal.
Some consumers feel nervous about shopping around for insurance, thinking that they don’t know enough, or that they won’t find the best deal. For those people it is smart to look into an insurance broker. They work with many insurance providers, and are able to find you the best price out of all the companies.

Converting gas cars to electrical
January 24, 2009
The car, by and large, has been indispensable. However, the environment has been adversely affected by the gas engine. A car that ran on an all electric motor would solve a lot of our present pollution problems. This is just one of the options available to us.
Electrical running vehicles are here now. They are no longer a thing of the future. A lot of people are converting their gas running cars into electrical running vehicles. And so can you.
Some of the major benefits of running your car on electricity will be explored in this article:
Protecting the environment: Global warming is one of the most ecological threats facing us today. The fumes emitted from gas engines would be eliminated if you were running on an electric vehicle. There are no air pollutants emitted when using an electric motor.
Environmental pollution would be reduced if you were driving an electric powered vehicle. Risks from pollution, smoke and noise would be greatly reduced.
Save our resources: Crude oil is considered a natural resource. Depending on who you talk to, it is widely known that crude oil is being depleted. By converting your gas engine to an electric motor would help us to keep the supply that we now have.
Save money:
Changing your car over to run on an electric motor is a small investment. Not only that, it’s just a one time expenditure. Your car will run very smooth when running with electricity.
Never again will you have to look for a gas station. Running on electricity would eliminate the need for gas ever again. Running on electricity will reduce the maintenance on your vehicle.
A gas engine is estimated to be about 5 times more costly that an electrical motor vehicle.
Easy to Handle: A car driven by fuel involves great complication in engineering. So, handling of such cars may prove to be difficult at times. An electrical car is simple to handle and so it is comparatively easier to drive.
No Loss in Speed: Do not think that running an electric-powered car will bring down your speed. Practically, electric cars have an average speed ranging from 60-80 miles per hour. Thus, owning an electrical car will help you enjoy the speeds of a car that is run on gas.
A quiet ride: Driving an electric car, as compared to the average smog-cougher, is enjoying a peaceful, noise free ride. This is one of the biggest benefits of owning an electric car.
True electric cars have certain disadvantages. The biggest is having a limited driving distance before you have to recharge.
The disadvantages are few compared to the benefits they offer.
Is Prospecting Important?
January 23, 2009
As a Member of a Motorcycle Club, I wanted to give some advice to new Clubs out there that are starting up and to those looking to become part of a Club on why I feel Prospecting is so important. I hope I can help make it clear.
I hear members of new Motorcycle Clubs say things like “We do not prospect people” or “We met someone and liked them so we gave them a Patch”. To some of you out there this many sound unbelievable, but trust me it not only happens in many new MCs, it is the reason most new MCs do not make it threw their first year.
Finding a person you like and get along with is a great start. I have many real good friends I like, But I do not know if they would make good Club Members or not. If a person is going to be your Motorcycle Club Brother you need to get to know him as a Club Member first and he needs to get to know what it means to be a part of the Club!
I have spoken to many members of very casual Clubs and I hear a similar story over and over again. The story is how a group of them had been riding together for years having a great time and all getting along. Well one day a new person shows up maybe a friend of a member and he seems like a nice guy. He rides with them a couple of times and they let him into the Club. Right after he becomes a member he turns into a total moron! Now He is going places representing himself as a member of the Club making others hate him and the Club in the process. He starts making it so good members who have been around for years no longer wish to be a part of the Club! Some members want to throw him out, others say they cant do that. The Club is in total chaos and all are in fear of the club shutting down!
What should they do? Well all these problems could have been avoided if the person had prospected! By having a person prospect you can get to know them and see what they are really like. It is easy for a person to behave real well for a few days, but give them a little time and their true Colors will show!
Now how long should you prospect a person for? Well that depends on you and your Club. How much does your Club mean to you? Should you prospect the person three months? Six Months? One Year? I feel the answer is real simple, you and your Club members set a Minimum time limit and then you Prospect the person until they have become a Member and not a moment before that!
Now Prospecting is not just for the Club to find out if they want a person as a Member. It is also for the individual to find out if they want to be a Member of that Club. There is no shame in the fact that a certain Club may have not been for you. If it wasn’t Im pretty sure there is a Club out there for you. Most people don’t get married to the first person they meet in life. They look around till they find the one that’s perfect for them! Like People all Clubs are different and Prospecting is going to be different from one Club to another.
Now it just maybe only my opinion, but I have always felt prospecting is not about trying to break a person. Prospecting is about a person turning into a Member of your Club. Some will rise and become a Brother others will not! My Club Brothers are as close to me as my real Brother. They are all strong adult men who have proven themselves! Not Boys who are looking to prove something to themselves! We all get along great and the only way to keep the Club that way is Prospecting!
I have heard many who have been involved in a Motorcycle Club say that they feel the Brotherhood of the Motorcycle Club world no long exists! I want everyone to know that just because it may not have been there in the Club they were apart of, or tried to become a part of does not mean it has gone extinct! I know that the Brotherhood of the Motorcycle Club world is alive and strong because I am a part of it!!!

Car Tips – Collectors Car Clubs of the Past
January 23, 2009
Wondering about some of the changes that have occurred with car clubs in the last few years? There are numerous, after all as lives go on and technology improves people change as well. What was once fulfilling and satisfying barely meets anyone’s needs now and the car clubs have all been forced to adapt and adjust as well. This means that the clubs that in the past were the top of the line have also had to adjust in order to meet the needs of members.
Those clubs that did not evolve have all subsided and closed, while new clubs appeared. In the past, many people felt that a car club was only useful for an occasional organized drive and of course participating in only local car shows with. This would generally be a monthly activity that took place for a few hours and usually just involved the members of the club. Today’s clubs still take drives, however they tend to occur on a weekly basis now, and are completely voluntary. Additionally the drives are usually very short, or else cover the course of an entire weekend and members are encouraged to bring their entire family along for the adventure.
Additional changes that have occurred include membership fees and acceptance. In the past, most clubs accepted almost everyone who applied and there were few if any that charged membership. Now there are very few that accept everyone who applies and the majority charge at least a small membership fee to help defer some of the costs that the club has. From organizing events to even making some charitable donations many car clubs have a few bills that must be covered somehow. In the past, the clubs were not very well organized. People would simply meet together, possibly wear a crown that was same to other members and have a small sticker that they placed on their car. Times have changed and membership often means so much more now.
Car clubs of a past typically concerned customarily men. Women were roughly never around cars; after all in aged days a woman’s place was in a kitchen in progress or receiving caring of children, never out in a garage with men. Today’s automobile clubs have women who have been member’s as good as automobile enthusiasts themselves. A numbers of women who have been members have grown dramatically in new years as good as continues to grow even more.
People also tend to demand more now than they ever did from memberships and clubs and to help adapt many have worked out deals with businesses and services that are useful to the car owner, which allows members to receive a discount. This is something that car clubs in the past never worried about, yet most clubs offer some form of benefit. The benefits that each club offers varies greatly, and even the amount of the discounts that each club has available varies from club to club depending on the deal worked out but you can usually find something that is beneficial to you.
You can only imagine how car clubs of today will compare to those of tomorrow. At this point in time collector’s car clubs have changed so dramatically that they are so vastly different and likely more changes are in store as the clubs continue to adapt to life. People always love cars, after all the power and thrill of creating a car from the ground up or even restoring an old and tarnished car into the masterpiece that car enthusiast’s love is always thrilling and likely will not disappear anytime in the future. In addition, working on cars is a great way for families to bond and it creates the need for people to get together and learn, show off their cars and admire the work of others. Car clubs have thus far stood the test of time and will continue to do so in the future.
