What Is So Special About Womens Car Insurance?

by David Hill

Women drivers have a reputation on the road, although it really depends who you are talking to as to what that reputation is. Other drivers, male drivers, on the road are constantly bemoaning the bad women drivers out there that do not drive off at an acceptable speed (within the limit). However, car insurance providers love them because they do tend to have several advantages over their male counterparts. This is one reason as to why womens car insurance is generally cheaper than the same level of insurance for male drivers. There are several reasons why this is so in the eyes of insurers.

Before getting into the finer details of those reasons, it is necessary for you to understand how much women can save over their male counterparts when it comes to car insurance. Mr and Mrs Bickley from the West Midlands proved that when they got car insurance quotes for their 2008 Ford Focus.

Both Mr and Mrs Bickley are 29 years of age and enjoy rural life. As a result, their home is in a low crime area. They also have a garage and an alarm system fitted just in case. Mr Bickley does have one more years no claims bonus than his wife, but their circumstances are identical otherwise.

As an experiment, they both went to E-Sure and CIS for car insurance quotes to see how much it would cost them to insure the car individually. Despite the extra year no claims for Mr Bickley, Mrs Bickley would have obtained the insurance for 107 cheaper.

Women receive lower car insurance quotes than men because they tend to have fewer serious accidents than men. In fact, they statistically have fewer accidents in general, and fewer claims as a result. Fewer claims ultimately mean that the individual insurer is far less likely to have to pay out high amounts and thus have a greater profit. This profit is passed on to the woman in the form of a discount!

Taking this into account and the coupling it with speed will also make a difference. Men have a need for speed that women do not seem to have. They tend to have more convictions for speeding than women because they drive faster and fail to concentrate as much!

The choice of car is also a big part of why male car insurance premiums are higher. Men have a habit of buying faster and more powerful vehicles because women think practically rather than living out their fantasies. If anything happens to the powerful cars, whether stolen or in an accident, it costs more to fix or replace them, which contributes to the premiums as well.

Womens car insurance can also be found for a cheaper overall price because there are specialist providers for the female drivers out there. These insurers are exclusive. As such, women get more affordable cover over their male counterparts.

Try These Things To Save Gas

by Dan Sewinski

Drivers seem to let out a collective groan whenever they realize that it is time to stop to fuel up their automobiles, thanks to the sky-high gas prices these days. You would be hard-pressed to find a driver that would not like to save a bit of money at the gas pump, but many people simply do not know how to achieve this.

Many consumers turn to products that promise better gas mileage, only to be disappointed. Others believe that they must buy a smaller vehicle or sell their current one, due to the expensive fuel problem.

Unlike what most people think you don’t always have to buy a new car to save gas. Think about it: The money you invest in a new car has to be compensated by saving gas. This will often takes years. But there are other things you can do to save fuel right now with the car you already own.

Indeed, some of the easiest ways to increase your gas mileage are right under your nose when you drive - literally! Read on to find out how some of the features in your car can help you save gas!

One of the favorite features a car can have for many drivers is cruise control. Long beloved by drivers who must endure long trips, cruise control has a number of different benefits, although it is a very simple feature.

For instance, many people have earned themselves speeding tickets by having a heavy foot that got out of control, but with the cruise control set, you can drive at a consistent speed without glancing at the gauge every three seconds!

Did you know, though, that setting the cruise control can help you to save gas? That’s right, since your car will be driving along at a consistent speed, there won’t be the little accelerations here and there that the inexact science of using a foot pedal can result in.

Whenever you car accelerates the engine uses way more gas. The more sudden and intense the acceleration process the more gas is used.

Most drivers don’t bother looking at their current speed - unless they are thinking they could get a speeding ticket.

The faster your car is going the more the engine has to run -and the more gas it will use. It is not that driving 10% faster means you use 10% more gas - your car uses much more than that. The faster the engine turns the more inefficient it will run.

Turn off any additional devices that use electricity. The biggest energy waster is the air-condition! Most people have it turned on by default wether they need it or not and are not aware that it uses much more gas.

As you can see, these are some fairly simple ways to take a little of the pain of filling up your car’s gas tank away. In addition to that devices are available that will improve the efficiency of your engine substantially.

5 Ways to Get a Car Loan Fast

by Jason Lancaster

If you’re like most people, you don’t have a lot of time to futz around when getting a car loan. Luckily, there are quite a few things you can do to decrease the amount of time you’ll spend getting the loan you need.

Regardless of your credit score or credit history, here are some tips you can use to save time:

1) Make sure you’ve got all your paperwork together. You’ll need a recent paystub to prove your income, and a recent bill from your phone, electric or cable service to prove your residence. If there are any problems with your credit, such as collections or bankruptcies, get the paperwork for that too. Bring everything with you in an envelope when you go to see your lender. That way, you’ll only have to make the trip once.

2) Get your list of personal references together. When you apply for an auto loan, you’re usually required to give the name, address, and phone number of three or more friends or relatives that don’t live with you. If you get this information together ahead of time, you won’t have to scramble to figure it out while you’re completing your application.

3) Talk to your boss, office manager, or human resources department. When you apply for an auto loan, most lenders will call and verify your employment. Let the person in charge of employment verification know that you’re expecting an auto lender to call about you - that way they’ll be ready to provide what the bank needs quickly and accurately.

4) Find out the exact pay-off of your trade-in, if you have one. Estimating your trade-in payoff on your loan application could slow down the process and cost you money. The bank might take your estimated figure for the exact one, and if your payoff ends up being higher than what you estimated, you’ll lose time as your loan is re-approved for a higher amount. If your payoff is lower, you could wind up paying a higher interest rate than you should be. Finding out your exact payoff before you fill out your loan application will save time and money in the end.

5) Make sure you’re as truthful and accurate as possible. When you complete your credit application, you may need to list former residences, former employers, etc. If you list all this information accurately, your application will be processed quickly. Also, if you lie about some aspect of your credit, there’s a good chance the auto lender will find out. At best, this will slow down your application considerably as the lender checks every aspect of your credit. At worst, your application will be turned down.

Improve My Gas Mileage!

by Mark Alison

I learned to improve my gas mileage by nearly 40% - without spending anything extra to do it! It didn’t cost me anything, but I end up saving almost half of what I used to spend on gas!

The first thing I had to do to improve my gas mileage was to figure out what my actual gas mileage was. I did this using a simple gas mileage calculator. I know how far I drive on a fill up, and divide the number of miles I have driven by the number of gallons I used. This gives me an accurate gas mileage reading.

The next step on the way to improve my gas mileage involves simple maintenance of my car. Ensuring that I have clean oil and a clean air filter, I can get 10% more mileage for the same amount of gas. Thick or dirty oil makes the engine run, the less efficiently.

I get another 5% boost with a clean air filter. Dirty work clogged air filters allow less oxygen into your engine, making for less efficient combustion. This uses more gas.

One of the easiest ways to improve my gas mileage is by keeping my tires properly inflated. If the air pressure in my tires is low, the engine has to work much harder to move the car. Low tire pressure causes extra drag. I make sure to check tire pressure. When ever I fill up my tank.

I will also improve my gas mileage by cleaning out my trunk and backseat. For every 50 pounds that I can take out of the car, I get an extra 1% boost in my gas mileage. This has the added benefit of getting me to finally clean out my car!

I get my biggest gas mileage improvements with changes in my driving habits. scheduling my errands so that I can combine them together, and of waiting unnecessary driving during rush hour, means less idling, last stop and go traffic, and less congestion. Rush hour driving is extremely inefficient.

I improve my gas mileage up to 40% simply by combining good car maintenance, common sense driving and a little bit of planning. Adding all of these together, means I am effectively paying 40% less for gas. That comes out to a big savings because I have to fill up my tank, much less frequently.

Hybrid Vehicles Are Hot!

by Rex Stevenson

“I conceive that the land belongs to a vast family of which many are dead, few are living, and countless numbers are still unborn,” as said by a Chieftan from Nigeria. It is easy to see that we are ruining our children’s most important inheritance the earth. What good is money if they don’t have a clean place to live. Every one of us needs to think of ways in which to be more environmentally friendly, and with the way gas prices keep going up, a good way to do that is by getting one of the new hybrid vehicles.

Environmentalists believe in these new hybrid vehicles. Even manufacturers realize that consumers are demanding more of these vehicles, and future projections are showing that there will be many more alternative fuel cars on the market worldwide. This comes as a big surprise, seeing how just a few years ago there were only one or two models of this type of vehicle on the market.

A hybrid vehicle is a car that is a combination of both an electric vehicle and a gas powered car. They have both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. This type of vehicle shares both gas and electric energy when it is in use. Today there are two types of hybrid vehicles on the roads, the mild Hybrid, and the Full Hybrid.

The Mild hybrid uses more gas than electricity and the electric motor is used only as a support to the gas engine. These are not as gas efficient as the full hybrid. They are not as environmentally friendly as the full hybrid but compared to normal vehicles, they are much more efficient.

True hybrids can function on either electric energy or gasoline independently and when the car works off of electricity then those harmful emissions are not going into the air.

Current hybrids on the market are:

SUVs * The Ford Escape Hybrid comes in both a 2WD and a 4WD version. The 2WD gets 36 miles to the gallon in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. The 4WD version gets 32 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. * Lexus RX 400h is an all wheel drive vehicle and reaches 27 mpg in the city and 25mpg on the highway. * Saturn Vue Hybrid comes in a 2WD vehicle and get 27mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. * Mercury Mariner is a 4WD vehicle and gets 32 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. * Toyota Highlander Hybrid comes in both a 2WD and a 4WD. The 2WD gets 33mpg in the city and 28mpg on the highway. The 4WD gets 31 mpg in the city and 27mpg on the highway.

Cars * Honda Civic Hybrid gets 49 mpg in the city and 51mpg on the highway. * Honda Accord Hybrids get 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway * Toyota Prius gets 48 mpg on the highway and 54mpg on the highway * Lexus GS 450h gets 25 mpg in the city and 38mpg on the highway * Nissan Altima HEV gets 42 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway * Nissan Altima gets over 40 miles per gallon and 36MPG on the highway * The Lexus GS 450h gets 38 mpg on the highway

Trucks 1. There are also a few hybrid trucks like the Chevy Silverado Classic 15 - This truck is available in both 2 and 4wd and gets 18 miles to the gallon and 21 on the highway. 2. Try the GMC Sierra Classic 15 for a great environmental vehicle- This model comes in both in 2wd and 4 wd. This truck gets 21 and 18 miles to the gallon.

Discovering Something Different From Honda

by Rebecca Worthlin

I’m one of those people who have a hard time accepting something new and different. I don’t have a hard time accepting it for other people; they’re free to do as they choose. And I don’t have a hard time accepting its presence in my world. I just have a hard time accepting that it may apply to me or be appropriate for me personally because according to my personal history I never needed it before. So why would I need it now?

That might make sense to you, but more than likely you think it’s definitely unreasonable. And you’re probably right. The vast majority agrees with you! Take the car industry…I know designers say they come out with new and exciting products all the time, but usually it’s what is expected. It’s pretty similar to the year before with some improvements, etc. The evolution towards “future car” is quite slow and predictable.

But that doesn’t mean there are never any exceptions! Every now and then something will show up in a new vehicle line up that is so different from everything else available that I find myself annoyed at it a little bit. My first reaction (however silly) is that I don’t need that odd, new vehicle. Sometimes my obstinate nature is rewarded by the failure of the vehicle, but sometimes I’m dead wrong.

At least I can admit when I’m wrong, I guess. Two such vehicles are the Ridgeline and the Element. Both are Honda vehicles and both brought on my ridiculous knee jerk reaction of instant dislike when they were offered up to the public.

The Ridgeline just seemed too much of a car to be called a truck. I know, I know. That’s quite silly considering that was the point. And I understand at this late date and recognize the Ridgeline in all its brilliance. You can have the truck bed for moving furniture, etc. and the cab that feels like a car. Unless you’re looking for a commercial vehicle the Ridgeline has most of the “truck” features you’re going to want to use randomly combined with a comfort that we all want in our everyday vehicles.

The Element was a stand out design. And I mean that literally. It stood out on the road. Other vehicle designs were embracing the curvy, and the fluid and the Element popped out looking definitely boxy. But it broke up the dominant look and made a space for itself. It still stands out on the road.

Both the Ridgeline and the Element are examples of seeing what’s out there and coming up with something new and fresh. The ideas have obviously been embraced by the drivers of America as you see the vehicles traversing our city streets and highways at regular intervals. So even though I typically hang onto the traditional…I have to admit that the edgy and new can really get under your skin and solve a lot of your problems before you even realize they were there. And that’s something I can definitely appreciate.

Playing MASH..Where are all the Hyundais?

by Jana Kingman

MASH was a classic game when I was a kid. We’d sit and play it anytime we were supposed to sit quietly. The best part was always discovering who you were destined to marry. The next best part was always discovering if you were going to live in a Mansion, and Apartment, A Shack or A House (MASH).

But the next most important factor was always the car! And the funny part looking back is that I didn’t know what kind of car I wanted…did anyone when they were 8? I would put down odd combinations of 4 different vehicles like:

1. Porsche

2. Pickup truck

3. Truck

4. Delorian

Yes, yes. I know it’s a ridiculous list. But my 8 year old self was trying her very best. I’ve absolutely defined my preferences since then! Now I’m wondering if I’d ever heard of the Hyundai as a child. And if I hadn’t…why not? I find their line up offers something for every mood I’ve ever found myself in; not that you should buy a vehicle based on mood unless you’re P-Diddy, but it’s nice to know I could if I felt like it. You could start off in the Accent (it’s remarkably affordable) and move up to the Elantra when you’re ready. It offers more space than its competition and some pretty admirable “green” features.

The Sonata is the next step up from the Elantra and is even classified as a “large car” through the EPA classification system. It’s got a lot of really great safety features that come standard. The Hyundai Azera received the JD Power & Assoc. APEAL study recognition twice. The Tucson has a great crossover combination of car and SUV. The Santa Fe and the Entourage are both “Top Safety Picks” from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Veracruz has the Hideaway seat offering a third row. And we can’t forget the Tiburon that is just plain eye catching with the sport tuned suspension to support the sporty look!

So the next time anyone ropes me into playing that old game we all know and love called MASH. I am definitely going to have a better idea of just what vehicles to put down on my option list No bug for me, please. And a Lamborghini? I can’t even imagine myself in one; it would be a bit silly. The pick up isn’t that outlandish, but we’re talking about dream vehicles here…and the convertible? I might leave that one just for old time’s sake!

You Might Be A Classic Car Junkie If…

by Freeman Timmy

If you are like one of millions around the world, you will have to admit that you are addicted. addicted to classic cars. Like the 12 step program of AA (not making light of it just for comparison), we have a similar 5 point list of things that will clearly label you as a a “classic car junkie!”

Visit Buy Old Cars Classic Car site!

1. If you pine for 3 or more car shows in one weekend

Car shows just turn me on… I ain’t weird but it does “rev” me up. I am like a blue tick hound dog when it comes to tracking down the local car shows every weekend. I like to take my classic out to every one of them and pine over the ones I don’t have.

2. If the roar of a 289 Mustang motor makes you salivate like Paslov’s dog

You might be a “Classic car junkie!” Hey, I am one of you guys. I love those old Ford Mustang motors, and much like the famous dogs that Paslov tested, I, myself, do have a bit of problem salivating when I hear the roar of a classic car motor.

3. If your idea of a vacation is chasing down cars in barns in remote areas Can’t resist the temptation to go all over the countryside to view the rotting old classic car muscle just wasting a way in barns? You got it bad, eh? I do too, and to be able to find one of those nuggets in countryside of America only proves I am a junkie, literally!

4. If your House Has More Miles On It Than Your Classic Car

Hey nothing against mobile homes, but it is funny when you see a dude with $100K plus classics hanging around a garage and then look to find he is living in a trailer or an RV like cousin Eddie on the movie “Christmas Vacation.”

5. If Fewer Than Half Your Cars Actually Run.. and a Majority are Older than Dirt

Hey, I am like you. I sometime bite off more than I really can chew. If your back yard (or even front yard if you are really red neck), looks like a classic car junkyard, then you may want to consider the fact that you are addicted to classic cars. You mean to restore them all, but your grass is telling you another story!

Think long and hard about your “addiction.” It might not be as bad as it seems. You can always “get on the horn” and show up with your friends at the local BBQ for a fine meal and create memories that will last.

What to look for in a Reliable Car Insurance Company?

by Steven A. Smaldery

It is difficult to choose a car insurance company because of the large amount of them available. The company needs to be available to file claims and take care of other needs as they arise. The needs that customers have are met by reliable car insurance companies. There are things to consider when making the decision of a car insurance company. You will have to keep a number of things in mind to make the final decision.

How good is the customer service provided?

Before utilizing services you want to take a thorough look at the customer service. You do not want an insufficient amount of customer service. Ask people that have had experience with a company about the level of customer service provided. To find out about customer services check for complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau. You will be assisted with finding out about the reliability and the customer service offered this way.

What about financial stability?

If you are looking for a company to provide auto insurance that is going to be reliable it is vital to look at the financial stability that the company has. The Standard & Poor’s rating is a place where this information can be easily found; it will help to get a look at the financial situation of the company that is being considered. Filing a claim and discovering there are not adequate funds available to pay it by the company is not a situation that you want to find yourself in. Don’t go with a company that has a Standard & Poor’s rating lower than a BBB and you should be sure that they are sound financially.

Do a rate comparison

Rates that are associated with the coverage are a vital aspect of car insurance. The reliability of a company will be reflected in the rates. Incredible service and rates that are of a competitive nature are offered by reliable companies. There is a reason that one company has extreme rates when others do not. When making this choice price is vital to the process.

Three of the most vital things to consider when seeking car insurance are here. Looking for superior customer service, financial stability and competitive rates will ensure you find a reliable company to meet your needs.

Auto Insurance. How Common Sense Helps.

by donald chime

Many people would be surprised to know that just like any other thing in life, common sense can play a very important role in saving you some money in you Car insurance. Did I hear how?

Even if you already knew this, I would still say it. What you spend on insuring your car depends on the car. Certain cars are more expensive to insure than others. So if you had this in mind before making your car purchase, apart from your auto needs, you would also want to know what its insurance implications are. So you there is another factor now to consider.

2) Thinking through what you get as insurance coverage will also lower your insurance rates a great deal. Depending on how much you bought your car, certain policies or coverages will certainly be worthless. For example, if you bought your car for $15,000, is having a $25,000 collision policy going to be worthwhile? Moreover, since you know that the value will depreciate over time (And this is without subtracting the deductible you’d pay if you make a claim) does it make sense spending so much in premium that won’t benefit you in any event?.

These two examples do not suggest that you should not get expensive cars or have extensive coverage. They only underline how much you can save yourself by simply making use of your good sense of judgment.

There is no universal standard because our needs differ from person to person but simply applying our common sense in every situation would seriously affect the choices you would make regardless of your situation.

Finally, you must have gathered that regardless of whether you are getting an expensive car that would mean you would spend a lot more, with the right knowledge, you could still find ways to save on your car insurance.
